Interview with David, Jeremy, & Abe Isaac from DJ&A

LCG Foods sat down with the Owners, David, Jeremy & Abe Isaac and asked them some questions to better understand the brand's mission, core values, and other topics that we thought our retail partners might want to know.

 

What motivated you to start your company and create the products that we see today? 

DJ&A is an Australian family-owned business, established in 2011, with a mission to offer healthier and tastier products to consumers. Noticing a gap in the market, we began experimenting with vegetable and fruit crisps, which led to the creation of our Veggie Crisps and Freeze-Dried Fruit range.

We constantly challenge ourselves to innovate, creating fun, better-for-you products without compromising on taste. Today, DJ&A offers over 100 products enjoyed in more than 38 countries worldwide.

Working at DJ&A is incredibly rewarding, especially when we receive heartwarming feedback from parents thanking us because their children are finally enjoying vegetables!

 

If you could tell a retailer three things about what makes your brand different, what would they be?

  • Global Reach with a Local Touch: Despite being a family-owned business from Australia, DJ&A has grown internationally, exporting to 38 countries and partnering with major retailers like Costco, Aldi, and Walmart. Our ability to tailor products for diverse markets while maintaining strong local roots makes us stand out.

  • Proven Track Record of Consumer Satisfaction: One of the key things that sets DJ&A apart is the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from customers. What are some challenges you've had to overcome to bring your business to its current state?

One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced at DJ&A was scaling our operations while maintaining the quality and innovation that set us apart. As our products grew in popularity, particularly with the success of our shiitake mushroom crisps, meeting global demand without compromising on quality was a challenge. We invested in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and built strong relationships with our suppliers to ensure a steady supply of fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Another challenge was expanding into international markets. With different regulations, cultural preferences, and logistical hurdles in each region, we had to adapt quickly. Our solution was to establish a dedicated team focused on compliance, customer preferences, and market-specific strategies. This helped us successfully export to 38 countries and build partnerships with major retailers worldwide.

Lastly, navigating sustainability has been an ongoing challenge. As consumers demand healthier products, they also expect them to be produced in an environmentally responsible way. We've worked hard to ensure our production processes are as eco-friendly as possible, constantly seeking ways to minimize waste and use sustainable packaging.

Through resilience, innovation, and a strong commitment to our values, we’ve been able to grow DJ&A into the global brand it is today.

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, we enjoy spending time with our families. Whether it's sharing meals, going on outings, or just relaxing together, family time is really important to us. It helps us stay grounded and recharged, which is reflected in the values we bring into DJ&A.
