Where are the products made: Chickapea is 100% a Canadian company based in Collingwood, ON and we work with a manufacturer in the United States to produce our pasta.
What is the ‘key ingredient’ that makes your product line special? Chickapea pasta is made with only 2 ingredients: chickpea and yellow pea flour. The small but mighty chickpea is packed full of protein, carbs, fibre, antioxidants, and numerous vitamins and minerals. Plus they taste great. Yellow peas are not only super nutritious and packed with protein, but they release little starch, which makes our pasta even easier to cook and tastes more like traditional pasta. |

What motivated you to start your company and create the products that we see today? Chickapea was created to make it easier and more delicious for people to eat healthy. I believe that we shouldn’t have to choose between the foods that we love and the foods that love us back.
What are your company’s core values? Our mission at Chickapea is to make healthy food craveable, simple, accessible and sustainable. We started this business because we’re passionate about good food and making a difference! As a certified B Corp, we’re held to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Social good is cooked into every step of our process - whether that’s sourcing environmentally-friendly packaging, partnering with local food banks, to supporting our employees with paid volunteer time. We strive to make every bite count.
If you could tell a retailer three things about what makes your brand different, what would they be?
What are some challenges you've had to overcome to bring your business to its current state? Optimizing our supply chain and ingredients to still deliver on key attributes and nutrition while hitting the right price points on the shelf. In 2023, we improved the taste and texture of our pasta while maintaining the nutritional profile, all without raising our price to our customers and in some cases lowering it.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love to travel, cook and spend quality time with my kids.
