Exploring the Vision and Core Value of Jöey Nordic Seed Crisps

LCG Foods engaged in a discussion with the founder of Jöey Nordic Seed Crisps to better understand the brand's mission, core values, and other topics that we thought our retail partners might want to know.

 

What motivated you to start your company and create the products that we see today? 

Jöey Nordic Seed Crisps was created for my own gluten-free household, inspired by Nordic culinary philosophies of simplicity and sustainability. I started making these crackers at my farmhouse in Prince Edward County using 7 super seeds and premium culinary-inspired ingredients.

After working for big food brands like Kraft, Unilever, Hershey, Mondelez, and McDonald’s for 15 years, I was inspired by a trip to Sweden and my gluten-free partner to create an artisanal snacking brand of my own.  After spending three years developing a recipe, I launched Jöey Nordic Seed Crisps with the help of my family at the farmer's market in August 2022.

 

What are your company’s core values?

If you could tell a retailer three things about what makes your brand different, what would they be? 

  1. Seven Super Seeds with Watermelon Seeds.
  2. Taste! Nutty, crispy and savoury that is very addictive and full of flavour!.
  3. High in protein and fibre with 22g of plant-based protein per bag and 13g of fibre.
  4. Certified organic and gluten free.

 

What is your favourite product from the line up?

My favourite product from our line up is the Truffle Seed Crisps. We spent a lot of time perfecting that flavour and making sure you can taste it but it's not too strong. It was hard to find the right balance but we did it!

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have always loved gardening. I spend a lot of time gardening during the summer. I plant all types of vegetables like tomatoes, beans, zucchini, and carrots. I love to see how everything grows.
