We added that oomph to our bone broth using a combination of culinary-grade carrots, onions, and celery to create a savory bone broth perfect for sipping and cooking. |

LCG Foods sat down with Siip Bone Broth's Founders, Emilio and Maria Albanese, and asked them some questions to better understand the brand's vision, core values, and other topics that we thought potential retail partners would want to know.

What motivated you to start your company and create the products that we see today? My wife and I owned a soup restaurant in downtown Toronto. We catered to many offices and served many customers and tourists. Our health-conscious customers were looking for something other than their usual afternoon coffee or tea and many were asking for a sipping bone broth to go. We needed to satisfy their need for convenience and we also understood the importance of taste, so we created an instant bone broth in convenient, single-serve packets that you can take with you to enjoy bone broth anywhere- all you need is hot water.
What are your company’s core values? Taste, Health, and Convenience We understand how busy life can get; keeping up with your goals means taking care of your health. But, let’s face it sometimes reaching for something convenient doesn’t always mean that it’s healthy. Our goal is to meet consumers' demand for healthy, convenient snacks made from a clean label and simple ingredients. And since we come from the culinary world taste is always at the heart of what we do.
If you could tell a retailer three things about what makes your brand different, what would they be? a. Our product line is centered on convenience and our stick packs can fit easily into a purse, backpack, or gym bag making it perfect for travel, on the go, or sharing with your family and friends. b. Our single-serving size makes it great for cooking, especially for those recipes that call for a cup of broth. c. Unlike other bone broths on the market that target athletes and active outdoor enthusiasts looking for protein on the go, Siip Bone Broth focuses on taste while still containing 8g of protein per serving, satisfying consumer demand for a nutritious broth, that tastes like a broth.
What are some of the challenges that you’ve overcome to bring your business to its current state? Most of the bone broths on the market are packaged as liquids in tetra paks, glass jars, or sell as frozen broth. These formats do not offer convenience for consumers to take bone broth to go, since they require stovetop cooking. In addition, frozen bone broth is cumbersome to transport and thaw. Our main challenge was creating a powdered bone broth that tastes as great as our favorite homemade recipe that can be enjoyed instantly simply by adding hot water. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? a. Anything food-related- cooking, traveling for new food experiences, watching cooking shows, and adding to our library collection of cookbooks
