Interview with Daniel S. and Daniel C., Co-Founders of Goldy's Super Seed Cereal.
LCG Foods sat down with Co-Founders of Goldy's, Daniel and Daniel, and asked them some questions to better understand the brand's mission, core values, and other topics that we thought our retail partners might want to know.

What motivated you to start your company and create the products that we see today? As two fathers of 3 kids ranging from 3 months to 7 years old, we were seeking a breakfast meal that was delicious, quick, filling and nutritious. We wanted to find something that our kids enjoyed, and would become their number one most requested breakfast treat. At first, we thought to launch an overnight oats, but our hectic family life didn’t quite allow us the time of planning the next days breakfast the night before. On top of that, seeds are much more nutritional and beneficial than oats and can be ready in just minutes. Then came the fun part: branding! With a focus on family togetherness and wholesomeness, the story of Goldilocks seems to be a perfect fit. However, we needed to write our own story. We envisioned what it would be like to know Goldy and Bear after the story that everyone is familiar with ended. They are older, wiser, and the very best of friends on a mission to create a healthy and delicious breakfast meal that’s more appealing than Mama Bear’s sludgy porridge. And with that…Goldy’s Superseed Cereal was born!
What are your company’s core values? 1. Ingredient Transparency: nothing that you don’t know/recognize, can't pronounce, or don’t want! 2. Family: eating together and spending time around the table as a family unit. 3. Health: Natural ingredients, filling and energy-boosting meals, and definitely no blood sugar spikes and crashes.
If you could tell a retailer three things about what makes your brand different, what would they be? 1. Unique flavours, with something for everyone. 2. Transparent health benefits and ingredients, and no added sugars! 3. Appealing branding with a proven “grab-the-bag” effect off the shelves.
What are some challenges you've had to overcome to bring your business to its current state? Formulating our recipes and balancing the price point to stay competitive with other established health-focused brands in our category.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Spending time with our kids, outside doing things like hiking, parks, playgrounds, and bike riding, and making sure everyone in the family is making it to their activities every week (basketball, swimming, nature camp, dance, play dates, etc.)!
